In 2007, California and Sweden set up a form of collaboration regarding Swedish environmental engineering. In conjunction with that, STR made contact, through the Swedish Energy Agency, with SEMPRA Energy and SoCalGas in Los Angeles and San Diego. A pilot training course was conducted during the summer of 2008 which led to fuel consumption being reduced by 17 percent at the time of training. SEMPRA was very pleased with the project and is now taking measures to give its employees training in EcoDriving.
STR also presented EcoDriving at the Swedish Consulate in Los Angeles for representatives from a number of large American companies such as Cathey Pacific Cargo, Walt Disney and Waste Cooperation. These companies were very interested in and impressed by the results we achieve through EcoDriving training.
During 2008, STR has also been in Chile to present the potential of EcoDriving, focusing primarily on heavy vehicles. With financial support from the Swedish-Chilean foundation, eight bus drivers in Santiago have undergone training, leading to a reduction in fuel consumption of 29 percent. Heavy EcoDriving was also presented to the Ministry of Transport in Chile.
STR attended a seminar in Dublin, Ireland invited by the Swedish Trade Council.
STR took part in the ITS World Congress 2008 in New York and gave a lecture entitled”About EcoDriving in Sweden”.
